Euro-MED CirBioWaste | Fostering innovative and sustainable bio-waste management and circular bio-economy in the Mediterranean area

Euro-MED CirBioWaste | Fostering innovative and sustainable bio-waste management and circular bio...

ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável, as a partner of the Interreg Euro-MED CirBioWaste project, is pleased to invite you to participate in Activity OT2 – “How to implement PAYT in the Euro-MED project regions – a trigger to increase bio-waste collection rates”, taking place on July 2026. This activity marks the first step in our collaborative effort to identify and promote effective bio-waste management models across the Mediterranean.

The CirBioWaste Project, co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, brings together partners from Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Bulgaria. Coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the consortium includes leading organisations such as Fundació ENT (Spain), CIC (Italy), ZERO (Portugal), REAP (Bulgaria), and Ecorec (Greece). Together with 19 associated partners from 6 Mediterranean countries, the project aims to promote the transition to a circular and resource-efficient bioeconomy, by transferring and adapting proven bio-waste management solutions to different local contexts and strengthening regional governance frameworks.

The CirBioWaste project foresees a series of activities, namely technical visits and both in-person and online events, whose purpose is to disseminate information and gather new contributions, particularly from the entities that will take part in the planned initiatives. This is on the invitation page for the first activity led by partner ZERO, “Activity OT1: Models for an efficient management of biowaste at European and local level: the Interreg Euro-MED CirBioWaste project”.
